Underdog Boxing Picks for Warriors: Marquez versus Katsidis

Warriors: Marquez versus Katsidis is stacked from top to bottom.

In the main even, I don’t think there is much doubt on who the winner will be. Juan Manuel Marquez may have his best days behind him but this version will still be too much for Michael Katsidis to handle. Katsidis is a fun fighter to watch but he lacks the skill, size, and power to hang with Marquez. In fact, his agrresive style might actually play against him because Marquez is one of the best counter-punchers in the game.

I see Marquez winning by TKO in the 10th round. Katsidis’ face will be a mess at this point

Andre Berto knows that this is basically his audition to be America’s Next Top Model, I mean, Pacquiao’s next opponent so expect him to go all out against Freddy Hernendez. Berto is too skilled for Hernandez but he should be careful not to be caught with not to be caught because Hernandez has pop in his punches.

I’m going with Berto by UD.

Nate Campbell is way past his prime but he is still too good for journeyman Walter Estrada. Estrada has only won three of his past 12 fights and most of them were against relative unknowns.

I’m picking Campbell by UD.

Celestino Caballero versus Jason Litzau is an interesting fight. Caballero is an incredibly tall featherweight (he’s as tall as Margarito) and has a reach of a super welterweight. Litzau is an exciting fighter but he isn’t skilled enough.

I’d be rooting for Litzau (this us underdog boxing so you get the drift) but I think Caballero will win this one by UD as his power was diminished when he moved up from super bantamweight.

I’m also excited to see Erislandy Lara in action against Tim Connors. Lara is one of the Cuban defectors who are now getting more and more attention from the boxing world. Together with Yuri Gamboa, Odlanier Solis, and Guillermo Rigondeux, Lara aims to make it known that Cubans can also compete in professional boxing.

Lara KO 6.
